Pittsburgh Pirates defeat Kansas City Royals 3-2 – MLB Recap
The Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 10 at PNC Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Centre fielder Andrew McCutchen played enormously well for the Pirates as he hit a homer and made three RBIs on his three at bats which propelled the Royals with much force towards three-match clean sweep.
"I hadn't been feeling that great the past few days, but after a few times out in the cage, I was able to put a show forth today," McCutchen said with confidence on his tremendous play.
The Pirates starter A.J. Burnett also played well as he remained calm on the mound for 7.1 innings and gave only two runs along with five hits. He also gave only two earned runs and struck out six Royals’ potential batters.
"This weekend was outstanding," Burnett said with confidence. "We are playing good ball now and we are hitting on a couple of cylinders and it's fun to watch."
Later in the game the Pittsburgh manager Clint Hurdle said of his majors players who played well for the team and remained persistent towards end. He said, "He had good tempo and good rhythm today on a hot day, and he was really efficient with things, It
was a very, very solid performance all across the board for A.J. today."
On the other hand, the Royals starter Bruce Chen did not play his natural game instead gave too much waivered deliveries receiving four hits along with three runs and three earned runs.
From start to end, the game was dominated by the Pirates. The Pirates entire roster went early into lead and kept their cool for seven straight innings. Although the Royals fought back and made two quick runs in the bottom seventh and eighth but still it
was virtually impossible for them to surpass the Pirates offence which gave no chance to their opponents to take control of the game at any stage of play and in the end took the game away in style.
