Pittsburgh Pirates edge Chicago Cubs 1-0 – MLB Recap
The Pittsburgh Pirates edge Chicago Cubs 1-0 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Friday, May 25 at PNC Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Pirates won in style as they did not give any loop holes to the Cubs who received their 10th consecutive loss.
Cubs from start of the game never looked confident and eventually lost the game showing no fighting spirit at all.
Third base Pedro Alvarez was good with the bat as he helped Pirates to win in style. He remained confident during his batting turn and earned a great run for his team which proved the winning factor.
"I try to be ready every time on defense and anticipate the ball being hit to me, Like I've said before, I take a lot of pride in my defense." Alvarez said for his performance and the vital role he played for his team’s win.
Cubs’ manager was disappointed as his team showed fighting spirit during the entire game.
Chicago manager Dale Sveum said on his team persistent poor plays with big disappointment, "It's unbelievable, We out-hit the opponent every night and can't score. We can't seem to get that hit with men in scoring position. I'm a little lost for words now, It's kind of the same thing. But guys are battling, having decent, good at-bats -- just not finalizing it, really. A lot of good at-bats, just not getting it done."
The only run was scored by the Pirates in the second game while the rest of the game proved a waiting winning motive for the home team.
The Cubs’, who just lost their 10th straight game, certainly are in very difficult situation from where they can observe a constant struggle in the coming stages of the competition and if they did not perform on consistent bases, their post season qualification chances will die.
Currently sitting in dismay at bottom of National League Central, the Cubs are carrying mere .333 winning percentage along with 15-30 win loss record which is just not enough to play in the next round.
