Pittsburgh Pirates edge Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 – MLB Recap
The Pittsburgh Pirates edge Milwaukee Brewers 6-5 in the third and final game of their three-match regular series encounter on Sunday, June 3 at Miller Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
With this win, the Pirates take the series. Starter James McDonald played a key role in the Pirates’ win. He remained calm on the mound for six innings and never gave too much loop holes to his opposing batters. Allowing three runs and four hits, he struck-out eight Brewers batters and in the end, won the game for his team.
"It was a big moment for my team in the sixth and I was able to bump my chest and slow myself down and get out of that inning because I wasn't very sharp today," McDonald said with confidence.
Later Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said for McDonald’s contribution, "He didn't have his best stuff today but he did have, and he has for much of the season, an extremely good downhill angle on his fastball. It was good for him to finish.”
Before this series, the Brewers were going pretty smooth as they defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers in consecutive four games.
However, now they have beaten unexpectedly in this series after playing such an aggressive game against the Dodgers as their management is worried over their roster’s late efforts.
"It's tough to lose but I really do like the way we played, I thought it was a good ballgame. They just did a little bit better job." Brewers’ manager Ron Roenicke said
In the meanwhile, the Brewers’ with fourth position in the National League Central are trying hard to keep up with the Pirates pace. The pirates are second and quite in well positioned to qualify the post season spot but with the recent losses, the Brewers need some extraordinary performance from their roster to earn the post season spot.
At the moment, their winning percentage is at .444 but if they really want achieve a post season place; they must bring their winning percentage to .500.
