Pittsburgh Pirates hammered by Baltimore Orioles 6-8 – MLB Recap
The Pittsburgh Pirates hammered by the Baltimore Orioles 6-8 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Tuesday, June 12 at Oriole Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Pirates did not play well and never showed any fighting spirit which cost them bitterly as they lost the game with hard humiliation.
From their batters to pitching offence, no one came forward to tackle their opponents’ active play and eventually lost an easy game.
Starter Brad Lincoln played poorly for the Pirates at the mound. He was not looking comfortable as he was hit by four runs. He also could not hold on to his 3.15 ERA in his 4.1 innings’ spell.
Later closer Chris Resop also hammered with four runs and three hits which also gave the Orioles real chance to take way the game in style. He only pitched one inning and literally spoiled the game for the Pirates.
On the other hand, the Orioles played exceptionally and got a welcome win in their three-game encounter. The entire Orioles’ roster looked confident and left the field with a deserted win against the struggling National League Central team.
Orioles’ second baseman Brian Roberts and shortstop J.J. Hardy played a key role in their team’s win with total two runs five hits and three RBIs.
"It felt great. I actually had bad dreams last night. I had to wake up and cross some stuff out of my mind," I didn't know what to expect. I wasn't expecting three hits. I was just trying to go out there, as cliche as it sounds, and try to have good at-bats
and try to do something that would help us win a game." Roberts said after the game.
He added, “I just wanted to try to be productive, I sometimes don't have words for what I've been through and where we are now. I'm humbled and grateful to have the opportunity."
The series is now open with first win by the Orioles but the second game which will be played on Wednesday, June 13, will also be a tough encounter where Pirates are likely to put extra pressure on the Orioles in order to level the series.
