Pittsburgh Pirates lose to Baltimore Orioles 1-7 – MLB Recap
The Pittsburgh Pirates lost to Baltimore Orioles 1-7 in the second of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, June 13 at Oriole Park in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
The Pirates put up no fighting spirit and lost the game with bitter humiliation of big margin.
From start to end, the Pirates never played their natural game and remained under pressure.
Pitching offence led by Kevin Correia also performed with no energy and could not save the game for the Pirates.
He pitched six innings and received 10 hits and five runs. Giving away four earned as well, his ERA rose to 4.43 which undoubtedly does not explain how a nine year veteran player can be hammered with such blistering ERA.
On the other hand, the Jake Arrieta played wonderfully for the Orioles and literally won the game for his team.
He remained calm on the mound for seven powerful innings and received seven hits, one run and one earned run.
Striking out nine Pirates batters, he maintained his 5.89 ERA with complete accuracy.
"I went back to doing some things I was doing when I was successful, Kind of made some things a lot more simple than they were a couple weeks ago. I wasn't thinking as much. Going out there and really executing. I think it was nice to be out there in the
bullpen for a few games and just stop thinking about some things." Arrieta said.
Later the Pirates manager said on his starter performance, "He had a good outing tonight, and I'm proud of him, he served a need we had with Brian, being cautious with, his next turn in the rotation if he took it would be on (Monday).”
This was a good win for the Orioles as they also won the series as well. The first game was also one sided affair in which the Orioles outclassed the Pirates with 8-6.
In the meanwhile, Baltimore is looking in good shape to prevail in the next round with their consistent winning percentage and win-loss record.
Currently they are standing at 36-26 win loss and .581 winning percentage behind New York Yankees in the American League East.
