Pittsburgh Pirates lost to New York Mets 0-6 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on Wednesday, September 26 at Citi Field in New York City.
Pirates’ could not handle the pressure and lost the game with bitter humiliation. Their batters and pitchers played poorly during the entire game and could not save the game.
On the other hand, Mets were sharp in the field as they showed their full authority on every of play which eventually proved one of the winning factors for the New York.
Mets' manager Terry Collins said, "Everybody in this room was here for his last start, saw his emotions, saw that he was upset. He had something to prove tonight -- that he can pitch here, I believe he showed everybody he belongs here. I was very happy for him."
Their pitchers and at the same time batters played beautifully and earned a great victory for their team who also needed this particular win to get their morale back.
Mets have no chance to qualify into the post season, but they still understand that they need to win these last games as it will help them recognise their different areas which badly require some strategic changes.
Shortstop Ruben Tejada batted well and scored one run for the Mets along with two RBIs on his four hits. He played aggressively and maintained his slugging percentage at .358.
Second baseman Daniel Murphy scored one run, smashed two hits along with an RBI while he also remained consistent on his slugging percentage at .406.
"I got a chance to show off my blazing speed, Ten years from now, when I'm telling my kids, it's going to be a line drive. It's going to be a little different. But I'll take it. A hit's a hit, just really excited I could do it at home. The fans were great to me," Wright said.
Third baseman David Wright also played a winning role in the Mets’ victory as he added one run and smashed two hits on his persistent .493 slugging percentage which proved to be the winning factor for the Mets.
