Pittsburgh Pirates defeated by the Philadelphia Phillies 4-6 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 04 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
The Phillies played terrifically during the entire game and won with style. They played as one unit and rattled the Pirates with big force.
“I've played a lot of baseball and I've pitched in a lot of games, and I know I'm going to play a lot more baseball and pitch in a lot more games,” Hamels said.
Phillies batters and pitchers performed at every stage of the game and won with quite ease. They played aggressively during the entire game and showed great temperament which landed them a huge win against the Phillies.
“It was being able to get back to what I know, which is establish the strike zone early then throw all my pitches,” Hamels said. “Ultimately, it was staying down in the zone. That's where I've got hurt in the past, I get guys where I want them and not able
to finish them off because I'm getting too many balls up in the zone.”
Centre fielder Ben Revere played with big heart as he smashed three hits on his five at bats. He ran for two RBIs and maintained his slugging percentage of .330.
Ryan Howard also played well on the plate as he scored one run on one hit. He showed great confidence on his four at bats while he managed to sustain his slugging percentage at .457.
Domonic Brown scored one run on one hit on his four at bats. He showed great temperament on the plate as he also maintained his slugging percentage at .549.Third baseman Kevin Frandsen scored one run on one hit. He played well on his three at bats while
he maintained his slugging percentage at .438.
Along with batters, the Phillies pitchers also played wonderfully and kept the Pirates under pressure during the entire game. They pitched in right areas and never allowed the Pirates batters to score freely.
Especially starting pitcher Cole Hamels showed great pitching skills on the mound. He pitched seven innings and allowed two runs on five hits. He struck out eight while he maintained his ERA at 4.38.
