Pittsburgh Pirates lose to Washington Nationals 7-9 – MLB news
Pittsburgh Pirates defeated by the Washington Nationals 7-9 in the fourth game of their four-match regular series encounter on 25th July at Nationals Park, Washington, D.C.
The Nationals played wonderfully and showed great team spirit. Winning by two runs’ margin, the Nationals’ batting prowess once again showed its great ability and won the game with great style.
“You could feel it. You could just feel it in the dugout, You know something special's going to happen when you put him in that kind of situation,” reliever Ian Krol said.
Nationals’ batters and pitchers hammered the Pirates’ entire roster and won with style. They scored in consistent intervals and never allowed any big loop holes during the entire game.
“Great to get the 'W' today. We really needed it, Hopefully this one will carry on into tomorrow and the next day,” said Harper, who sat out Wednesday because of the bothersome left knee that put him on the disabled list until July 1, the last time he homered.
Left fielder Bryce Harper started well on the plate as he scored three runs on three hits. He plate well on his five at bats while he ran for two RBIs. He showed great batting skills and remained consistent on his .524 slugging percentage.
Second baseman Stephen Lombardozzi also played well and helped his team win an important last game of the series. He batted well on his five at bats. He scored two runs on three hits. He ran for one RBI and maintained his slugging percentage of .313.
“It's kind of sometimes like pickup basketball, They had the ball last,” said Pirates manager Clint Hurdle, who like Nationals skipper Davey Johnson was ejected on a wild afternoon that also included three errors by Pittsburgh infielders in the first inning.

Along with batters, the Nationals pitchers also performed well and helped their team win an important game of the series. Starting pitcher Gio Gonzalez pitched 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits. He allowed three earned runs and struck out
eleven hitters on 2.97 ERA.
