Pittsburgh Pirates president Frank Coonelly shows optimism ahead of 2013 season – MLB Update
Pittsburgh Pirates have almost completed their offseason shopping and now looking forward to show potential consistent results in the next Major League Baseball season. Their team president Frank Coonelly has recently gave a detailed interview in which he
spoke openly about his team’s strategy to compete leading teams.
Though he was very brief about certain aspects of Pittsburgh Pirates’ strategy but still he told the reporters regarding some new signings and trades which certainly impact directly on the team’s efforts to stay top of their game.
"We're going to learn from the good times We're going to learn from being 16 games over .500. We're also going to learn from the fact that we have failed over the end of the season and we're going to figure out how to finish,” Coonelly said and explained
the situation.
He added, “When we came in the next year, we promised you and everybody in this room that, when we draft players, we're going to take the best player who's on the board regardless of his agent, regardless of any demands that may have been rumored in the
press."
Coonelly was also certain that unlike last season, the Pirates fans will come to the ground next year. The Pirates overall performance was quite poor in the last Major League season. They started well but later in the season, they lost too many games and
could not even qualify for the playoffs.
Lately Pirates general manager Neal Huntington has also stressed on the team’s high morale which will play a vital role to not to drop in 2013 season’s second half. This offseason not only Huntington but team manager Clint Hurdle have also been working with
team’s senior players and trying to give them total freedom to feel the responsibility.
Pirates, with some recent season’s decline, have been under enormous pressure. However, now experts say that president Coonelly along with Huntington and Clint Hurdle want to regain their lost pride. They all have prepared an offensive strategy for the next
season but this new game plan is yet to be tested in the real baseball game.
