Pittsburgh Pirates set eyes on Andrew McCutchen’s performance – MLB News

The Pittsburgh Pirates' manager Clint Hurdle on Monday, July 9 lauded the team’s centre-fielder Andrew McCutchen for his increasing improvement.
Andrew McCutchen has also been elected for the All-Star Game to represent the National League on Tuesday against the American League.
"He's made a lot of progress from last year," manager Clint Hurdle said. "We're seeing a young man grow up right in front of our eyes, and it's quite a privilege. It's fun, because it's our guy."
It was in the start of this year that the team hastened to strike a six-year deal worth $51.5 million, with the centre-fielder. That decision has had enormous reward for the team as Andrew McCutchen continues to blaze.
A quick look at his record brings to fore the impressive stats he has maintained. Take for example his batting average alone which stands at .362, having had 18 homers to his credit and hitting 60 RBIs.
Such a performance, it goes without saying merits critical appraisal and the deserving amount of praise for the player. When it comes to acknowledging the talent he has possessed, his team-mates are all praise for him.
"He's been our MVP, if not the National League MVP," the team’s closer Hanrahan said. "He goes out there every day and plays the game the right way. We always make fun of him about his commercial that he has, where he said he was going to take away center field, but he really has.”
According to Hanrahan, what Andrew McCutchen has achieved so far is unbelievable. Indeed it is. Only 25-years-old, McCutchen has already become the two-time NL All-Star, a rare achievement for any young player in the game.
"He's running everything down out there, giving up his body. And what he's done with the bat, it's unbelievable."
2012 All-Star Game, to be played on Tuesday, will be his second consecutive appearance making him a very important player and shining star for the Pirates. It is indeed through his invaluable performance so far that the Pirates tops the NL Central, leaving behind all other teams.
