Pittsburgh Pirates sign second baseman Neil Walker
Pittsburgh Pirates have signed second baseman Neil Walker to a one year deal. Along with Walker, the Pirates have also signed James McDonald.
Both players are good Major Leaguers and know how well they need to play with the Pirates in order to lead them in the next season.
James McDonald showed good consistent performance in the last season as he achieved 4.21 ERA along with 12-8 win-loss, 151 strikeouts and 1.26 WHIP.
He is a good player and possesses four years of experience. He currently carries good career ERA of 4.10 along with 30-28 win loss, 417 strikeouts and 1.39 WHIP.
Walker is also a productive player and has been playing well for the Pirates with great consistency. Last season, he achieved good numbers of .280 hitting average along with 14 home runs, 69 RBIs and .342 OBP. Overall he has good career .280 hitting average along with 38 home runs, 218 RBIs and .339 OBP.
Meanwhile, some inside Major League experts are stating in the media that the way Pirates are taking offensive measures in this offseason, is certainly a good thing. These measures will provide the Pirates a good offensive playing plan in the next season.
Currently the Pirates’ one year veteran Jerry Sands is also speaking to the media and appreciating the way his team has handled the things which were making much noise in the media.
Not only he talked the media regarding his team but he also spoke about his own game and how he carried his game towards excellence.
“I just wanted to see where it would go, I appreciated the help I got when I was younger, so I figure if I can help these kids out with some fundamentals while they are younger, it will definitely help,” Sands said of his instructional sessions.
“I built off of last year into this year. And every night that I do it, I have at least four or five lessons, They start looking for it, and the parents know who I am,” Sands said.
Jerry Sands showed consistent performance in the last season and achieved .174 hitting average along with one RBI and .208 OBP.
