Pittsburgh Pirates trounce New York Mets 4-2 – MLB news
Pittsburgh Pirates defeated by the New York Mets 2-4 in the third game of their three-match regular series encounter on July 14 at PNC Park in Pittsburgh.
The Mets played quite offensively throughout the game and won with quite style. Their entire team played aggressively as they rattled the Pirates with big force.
“Stuff-wise, it probably wasn't the best day but I just tried to throw a lot of strikes, especially after the guys got us out to an early lead and set the tone out there the first inning against a good pitcher, I just wanted to throw a lot of strikes after
that and keep them off-balance,” Gee said after the game.
Mets’ batters and pitchers played very well and certainly their great contribution helped their team win against the Pirates.
“It's just sometimes this is the way it works out, They're a really good team. I was just trying to throw strikes with all my pitches and just keep them off balance. And it worked out.” Gee said of his success against the Pirates.
Left fielder Eric Young Jr. showed his great batting skills. He scored two runs on two hits. He played well on his five at bats while he maintained his slugging percentage at .371.
Third baseman David Wright also showed great temperament on the plate as he scored one run on one hit. He went to bat four times and managed to maintain his slugging percentage at .507.
Right fielder Marlon Byrd also played well on the plate as he scored one run on two hits. He ran for one RBI on his four at bats while he showed great batting skills by maintaining his .502 slugging percentage.
Along with batters, the Mets pitchers also performed wonderfully and rattled the entire Pirates batting lineup with big force.
Starting pitcher Dillon Gee played enormously well on his 6.2 innings’ spell. He pitched in right areas and proved one of the winning factors for the Mets.
He allowed one run and five hits. He struck out two Pirates’ talented batters as he maintained his ERA at 4.32.
