Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Larry Foote, who for his ability to effectively replace injured players at different positions is dubbed a duct tape equivalent of football by some commentators, is expected back on the starting line from the team’s next game
this Sunday.
The place is cleared for him following the team’s decision to release veteran defenseman James Farrior. Larry had played the team’s season opener against the Denver Broncos. His game numbers include nine tackles, a forced fumble and a sack, which his team
lost to the hosts conveniently.
Now Steelers coaches and the player himself hope for an even better performance from him on the starting line next Sunday when they host the New York Jets. Foote’s performance was the key to a majority of victories scored by the team last year.
Some commentators have repeatedly noted that his ability to effectively play at a number of positions, including special teams, keeps him different from the lot. He as a matter of fact stops by at some of positions' meetings he has played at, just to fulfil
his ambition of learning and growing.
Special teams has remained the main position for him for quite some time but he has equally excelled at the linebacker’s and other spots.
It is for the first time now that he is back into fulltime role as a LB, which Farrior had occupied for a longer period. As it really will not make a huge difference to Foote, he nevertheless is excited to have won it back.
Otherwise, he has been busy changing places, playing wherever and whenever he was needed in last three years. This is one of the reasons that the player is in demand among coaches and teammates, who themselves are baffled about his capability of remaining
consistent in performance at multiple positions.
The Steelers are desperate for a win after losing the season opener to Broncos, and performance of players like Foote will be crucial to their chances given the Jets are not an easy opposition to play against. A win can only be possible through a tough fight.
