Pittsburgh Steelers QB Big Ben suffers sprained shoulder, official confirmation awaited – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers are hoping that the shoulder injury of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is not serious but as level of severity of the injury is not known some independent media reports have confirmed it to be a sprained shoulder.
Coach Mike Tomlin in his post-game remarks said the quarterback appeared to be fine as the hit was not furious but a final confirmation of severity of the injury is expected after the team receives reports from the hospital where the player had been taken
to and was examined after the injury.
Meanwhile, left tackle Max Starks said:
"It didn't seem like a tough hit but he came to the sideline and next thing you know he was gone. I'm hoping it was nothing serious. Honestly it didn't seem like it."
Big Ben was knocked down by the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensemen in third quarter of the game. He hit the turf and moved on the sidelines for examination by the team’s medical staff.
He was then helped to the locker room and then to a local hospital. It was the hospital where his injury was compressively evaluated but results of tests are very much awaited and are expected by Tuesday.
A section of media in the meantime has quoted an anonymous and unconfirmed source telling that the player has suffered a sprained ankle. Since the team has not confirmed the reports it more or less remains mere a speculation.
Ben before hitting the sidelines managed to complete 9 out of 18 passes for a total of 84 yards.
The Steelers are preparing for a big game versus the Baltimore Ravens next weekend and absence of Ben for a longer time will not bode well with Steelers’ hopes of defeating their American Football Conference (AFC) North rivals.
It can only be hoped that the player avoids the possibility of a serious blow. Otherwise, the Steelers who have many scores to settle with the Ravens stand hurting their chances.
The situation can only get clearer on Tuesday when the team officially provides an update about the status of Big Ben’s injury and recovery prospects.
