Pittsburgh Steelers RB Isaac Redman says ready to lead – NFL News
Running back Isaac Redman is vying to start for the Pittsburgh Steelers from their opening game against the Denver Broncos on September 09, which will mark a long era of development and progression of the player into the team’s leading role.
Apparently, the player is upbeat about it given he could not think of the position at the time he started his pro career as a nervous young player with the team about three years ago.
He said:
"Fast forward to now, and .I'm here coming in as No. 1 on the depth chart. I feel like a totally different player, I feel like a professional. I'm taking on a leadership role in the running back room, guys are looking up to me. When I came in I was looking
up to Willie Parker and Rashard and those guys, Mewelde (Moore). And now I got a bunch of young guys looking at me for advice."
The opening game is going to be very important for the Steelers as they will come on the field clearly under pressure of their miserable loss to the Broncos in the first round of the playoffs last season.
Isaac knows the importance of the game and said to be ready to meet the challenge.
One major change in the Broncos this year is Peyton Manning. The former Indianapolis Colts quarterback has arrived in Denver off the free agency after his release by the Colts. This also means the Broncos will be without Tim Tebow, who was the star performer
of their last year’s win over the Steelers. He is now with the New York Jets.
Redman’s presence as Steelers’ leader will assume a greater responsibility this season given the team has a crop of young players at the backup positions. A change can also be expected in the core responsibilities of Redman as a leader under the transformed
offensive scheme by the new coach Todd Haley.
The RB is apparently not wary of these challenges and remains confident about the prospects of better performance. The Steelers’ coaches are equally hopeful of Redman’s role as a leader.
