Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin confirms TE Heath Miller suffers serious knee injury – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin has confirmed that tight end Heath Miller is on the course of a lengthy recovery process from a serious knee injury that he suffered in the Cincinnati Bengals game on Sunday (Dec. 23).
According to the coach, the player needs a surgery to fix the problem and although only a single game is left in the season to play, football action for him is certainly over.
Mike said:
"Unfortunately his season comes to an end. He has been rock solid for us and we really appreciate his efforts. We understand injuries are a part of the game, but unfortunately it brings his season to a close."
The Steelers lost the Bengals game 10-13, which added another player to their serious injuries list. The coach officially did not confirm, but independent sources have disclosed to some media sections that the player has torn his anterior cruciate ligament
(ACL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL), which possibly is the serious form of posterior cruciate ligament (PCL).
Since the team has not provided details around his injuries, their nature and scope stand confirmed as per information available through independent sources.
Nevertheless, the season is over for the TE. Most importantly, he might need about a couple of months to full recovery and fitness, and since the Steelers are almost in the offseason phase he does not stand losing any game..
The Steelers’ loss to the Bengals on past Sunday ended their playoff hope this season. They just have to play the final game, against the Cleveland Browns, to formally draw curtain on the present year’s action.
It was not a good season for them as far as players’ health and fitness is concerned. They were without key players on the offensive and defensive line at start of the season because of their respective injuries and kept losing more to different scares during
the entire season.
This includes offence leader quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who was out for three weeks with a rare rib and shoulder injuries, respectively. Similarly, linebacker James Harrison, safety Troy Polamalu and others are but a few on the extended list of injured
players.
