Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin desperate to have QB Big Ben vs Baltimore Ravens – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said he wants the doors open for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger with a hope that he recovers well in time for the Baltimore Ravens game on Sunday (Dec. 02), while giving rather encouraging view of recovery of safety
Troy Polamalu and wide receiver Antonio Brown.
Ben suffered a sprained shoulder and dislocated rib and is out of the side for two weeks. According to doctors, he can spend about three weeks on the sideline but the Steelers hope he returns after two, at least to salvage their game versus the Ravens who
appear to all set to beat the Steelers for second consecutive time in the season.
The good news is that Big Ben has started throwing football but appears to be not as fit as his team might have hoped for. Nevertheless, the situation is expected to be clearer in a couple of days. The team have asked the QB to take out more time from his
busy family life to throw football more and more and according to Coach Mike Tomlin, he does not want to shut that option at all.
"A step in the right direction," the coach said while referring to Ben’s throwing session, and then added, "We’ll leave the door open."
Meanwhile, the official said that he is ‘encouraged’ by the pace of recovery safety Troy Polamalu has shown. Polamalu played only a single game earlier in the season and suffered a calf injury. He then returned to play a quarter of another matchup and went
on the sidelines after aggravating the problem, and since then is in recovery and rehab.
According to Tomlin, it is a possibility the safety shows up for the next weekend game. However, he refrained from confirming Polamalu was definite participation against the Ravens. He also drew a similar picture on the recovery front of wide receiver Antonio
Brown but did not confirm his participation either.
This update leaves the Steelers’ offence in as much chaos as it was before or without it. They are suffering equally worst at quarterback, running back and wide receiver positions.
