Pittsburgh Steelers coach Todd Haley backs QB Ben Roethlisberger success – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers coach Todd Haley has showered praise on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who despite being unhappy over the offensive scheme of the new coordinator, has defied all odds to build an immense success and stands at second position on the QBs
rating chart of the National Football League (NFL) so far.
Todd’s commendation of Big Ben’s success also reflects that the arranged marriage between the two parties is very much functional irrespective of the difference and disliking of each other to an extent.
Ben has not been happy while working with the new coordinator since his arrival in Pittsburgh to replace former coach Bruce Arians. There was a fear among the Steelers that the two could never be on good terms.
The QB now appears to have left the sense of resentment well behind him and enjoying high-paced run offence introduced by Haley, and the coach is happy that the change has proven helpful to the QB to emerge on top of the league’s offence leaders’ ranking.
Haley said:
"He's made very good decisions. When you see us in quick mode, when the ball is coming out on three-step timing, he's been tremendous."
Roethlisberger has completed 68 percent of his passes and with the rating of 109.2 ranks second while with eight touchdowns he is tied in the lead.
His success is even more significant amid dismal performance that the Steelers as a team have given so far. They with a single win in the three games are at second position in the American Football Conference (AFC) North division. The Baltimore Ravens and
Cincinnati Bengals are tied for the first position.
Also, the quarterback has now downplayed the suggestions that he had resisted the implementation of new offensive arrangement by Todd.
He said:
"I know there are some people out there that were saying that I'm resistant to Todd. It's one of those things, we went to Todd and it's in the playbook now."
No matter how the two parties stand in their individual relationship status, the Steelers must be happy that both are thriving on good professional terms.
