Pittsburgh Steelers confirm LB Chris Carter to replace injured James Harrison – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers have confirmed linebacker Chris Carter will replace injured James Harrison who is yet to play a game this season while recovering from a knee surgery he had suffered during the offseason.
Interestingly, James keeps circulating hopes of his comeback through media whenever he gets an opportunity but in reality he missed another team practice on Friday leaving him well out of credentials for selection for the weekend game.
The daring Steeler does not have a timeline for return and has almost ended up on a weekly basis evaluation process, which gives no guarantee if he will be fit and ready in time for the next weekend’s game.
Also, the team has left out safety Troy Polamalu who missed the last week’s New York Jets game but played the season opener. He is recovering from a calf injury, and missed practice on Friday.
The Steelers in the meantime have confirmed that linebacker Chris Carter will replace Harrison, as earlier confirmed, and safety Ryan Mundy to take place of Polamalu.
Both players stand crucial to the overall performance of the team and their absence is continued to be felt in the squad. James is particularly effective knocking down oppositions’ offensive players and must be missing action or going after some of top-notch offence leaders.
Meanwhile, the Steelers have further confirmed ousting of running back Rashard Mendenhall from this Sunday’s game, although he is said to be progressing well in the process of rehab from an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.
He returned to practice but was not fit enough to be taken back in the team. It has been almost nine months that Rashard is in the recovery phase and only recently encouraging news started emerging on the prospects of his return.
He most probably will be ready for action from next week, as hoped by the team, which should be good news to offensive crop of the team.
The team also expects linebacker Stevenson Sylvester to be out of the next game. He is recovering from a knee injury.
