Pittsburgh Steelers contain Tom Brady to beat New England Patriots 25-17 – NFL Recap
Pittsburgh Steelers extended their winning streak to four straight games defeating New England Patriots 25-17 in their weekend game on Sunday, October 30.
Steelers’ quarterback Ben Roethlisberger proved to be the best against the Patriots. He completed 36 passes out of a total of 50 and managing 365 yards with two touchdowns. The quarterback deserved the main credit in being able
to contain Tom Brady, the greatest threat from the Patriots. The performance of Roethlisberger came against a team whose offence and quarterback is considered to be a level of excellence.  Roethlisberger played in an organized and capable way, occasionally
resorting to secure courses.
"We can be as good as we want to be," Roethlisberger said. "When we don't kill ourselves and stop ourselves, we can be pretty dangerous."
The Steelers have proven to be the best team in the AFC with the best quarterback and not to forget the best record they possess.
"It's been all Tom Brady versus the Pittsburgh Steelers and looking back on the past, how he's owned the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I think everybody forgot about our offense a little bit and the things they've been doing out there,"
said Pittsburgh linebacker LaMarr Woodley.
Tom Brady with a 6-1 performance record against the Steelers looked confident. However, Brady failed to prove his worth. He could manage just 198 yards of passing, a figure which is to be considered just mere keeping in mind his
excellent performance, especially against the Steelers. However it was the effort of Roethlisberger that proved to be decisive in preventing Brady from destroying the Steelers. The game proved that a good offence and quarterback is the best way to contain
Tom Brady.
"We all have to individually look in the mirror and figure out what we need to get better at," Brady said.
The absence of Hines Ward was not felt much by the Steelers as wide receivers Mike Wallace, Antonio Brown and Emmanuel Sanders performed the tasks well. Steelers defence proved to be dominating. Ward was out of the game with an
ankle sprain. Brown succeeded in managing his career best with nine receptions while Mike Wallace grabbed seven catches. It was the excellent performance by these players on short and intermediate routes that helped Roethlisberger to prosper. Sanders managed
well with 5 catches and 70 yards.  Sanders proved to be the best route-runner.  With excellent footwork and running skills he hampered the tasks of Patriots to quite an extent. All these three young players stepped up at the correct time to fill the gap left
by Ward.
The match was dominated by the performance of Pittsburgh’s Earl Heath Miller, Jr in the beginning. The impassive player cleared four balls for 55 yards during his team’s first attempt. Miller seemed to be playing his careers best
on Sunday with the Patriots helpless in containing him.
