Pittsburgh Steelers face setback as QB Big Ben out for 3 weeks with rib, shoulder injury – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a couple of more weeks to spare for recovery from his rib and shoulder injury because doctors believe the injuries like the one he suffered require at least a month to heal.
With this anticipated timeline, the player will be out from the squad for another three games for the Steelers before he could report his fitness and return to action.
In his absence the Steelers have already been suffering, they lost one game against their rivals the Baltimore Ravens, and could go without a win in a pair of more because of the setback.
Earlier, the Steelers hoped the quarterback could get an earlier return from the injuries but now doctors’ opinion, based on the information from latest scans and examination, has dented that hopes.
Ben was injured in the game a week ago and missed the Ravens game, which the team lost 10-13, and the latest opinion from the doctors is even more discouraging.
Although Ben’s departure is a serious setback for the team, its time is even more awkward. The Steelers with a loss against the Ravens have gone down on the points table, two games behind the Ravens, and catching up on with them will be difficult.
Some commentators believe the team could have managed if the Ben was there but with their star offence leader out the chances are very remote and very difficult.
Another problem with the team is that their score difference is being narrowed down with the Cincinnati Bengals and a couple of more losses by them could leave them even behind the Bengals. The Bengals have won this week’s game, and another couple of wins
can help their cause further.
The team are already suffering on other ends, like running back Rashard Mendenhall and safety Troy Polamalu. With their lingering fitness problems, Ben’s ousting has aggravated situation for them.
