Pittsburgh Steelers leave some players game-time call versus San Diego Chargers – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers have left a number of their key players as questionable or game-time amid lingering doubt about their fitness level for the San Diego Chargers game this Sunday (Dec. 09).
As per the team update, after the managers witnessed some of the injured players during the day-long practice, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is confirmed to start versus the Chargers this weekend. He has recovered from dislocated rib and shoulder injury,
playing for the first time after three weeks.
Other player who is expected to join the squad this week is wide receiver Jerricho Cotchery. He too has missed some time due to rib injury, and according to coach Mike Tomlin, he is now fit and available for the weekend game.
Also, safety Polamalu is going to be available for full participation this week. He missed two days of practice this week and had been kept limited in the Baltimore Ravens game on the past weekend. This is second time that Polamalu has been hit with uncertainty.
He has earlier missed a few games with a calf injury this season that he had suffered in the opening game.
Meanwhile, the team has confirmed that left guard Willie Colon is going to be probable for the weekend game. He has practised this week, including Friday, but the team is not hundred percent if he is fully ready for the Chargers game.
Also listed as probable for the weekend game are safety Ryan Clark, who is carrying a hip injury, and fullback Will Johnson, who is suffering a concussion. The team will assess their situation just before the game to see if they are ready to go.
It is pertinent to note that the Steelers have continuously been affected by a number of injury scares throughout this season. The absence of quarterback Big Ben has in fact resulted in the team’s loss. He was out for the side for three consecutive weeks.
Also, the team has been consistently hit on the defensive position. Safety Polamalu and linebacker James Harrison have suffered respective injury blows and missed a few games in between.
