Pittsburgh Steelers may replace guard David DeCastro with CB DeMarcus Van d**e on roster – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers are most likely to place guard David DeCastro on the injured reserve (IR)  list to create space on the roster to accommodate new signee cornerback DeMarcus Van d**e.
DeMarcus has been signed off the Oakland Raiders waivers after he was let go by the team a couple of days earlier. Neither the player nor team has disclosed terms of the deal including its value and tenure.
His signing nevertheless has strengthened the defence situation of the team just before their season starter against the Denver Broncos scheduled for this Sunday.
Since David’s injury the team’s defence situation looked compromised to an extent and since the team has to keep down the number of players at 53 in the regular season, as per requirement of the National Football League (NFL), they could not add another
player on the roster without placing David on the IR list.
Although the Steelers are yet to confirm his placement on the list, he seems to be the only choice fitting their roster spot need for inclusion of d**e in the squad.
d**e was selected by the Raiders off the 2011 draft and started four games for them last season. He was also a part of the team’s entire offseason programme, including last month’s training camp but was suddenly cut loose from his contract about two days
ago.
Some commentators see d**e’s signing a timely development for the Steelers, expecting the team to benefit from his experience of Raiders’ starts on the defensive line. If the defence is able to put up a strong show in the next game, this should help the
cause of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and other offensive line players.
d**e himself is excited about the Steelers’ opportunity, hoping to play an effective role on the defence line. The move came as a lucky development for the player within two days of his release.
Meanwhile, some media sections have reported about Ben’s plans to seek leave from Steelers for a game or more to allow himself to be with his wife at the time of birth of his son, a date of which is yet unknown.
