Pittsburgh Steelers’ offensive staff Todd Haley gets nod of approval from boss Mike Tomlin – NFL News
Todd Haley, who has recently deserted his former team, Kansas City Chiefs, to join the Pittsburgh Steelers as an offensive coordinator, has received a nod of approval from his boss, Steelers’ head coach, Mike Tomlin, at a media call after being unveiled
formally.
Tomlin spoke highly of the new offensive coach and backed him for performing well at Pittsburgh, where he replaces Bruce Arians who has announced his controversial retirement from the team, and joined the Indianapolis Colts for a similar role.
"As an offensive coordinator, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience," Tomlin said. "But he also brings intangibles I really value."
The new coach, while taking questions from journalists, endorsed backing Tomlin, saying he will try to give his best to the team and prove his signing worthwhile.
"I'm just very grateful coach Tomlin and the Rooney family thought enough of me to have me in here to help be part of continued greatness. In my mind, this is the greatest organization in the NFL and the greatest team, and that all comes from the heart."
Haley’s appointment came in the limelight last week when Steelers’ head coach named the official as their potential offensive assistant coach.
The new coach was formally unveiled before the media by team management on Thursday, February 09, 2012.
The controversial departure of their former coach, Bruce Arians, was not touched upon at the conference call and the team has apparently been over with the controversial decision of his retirement.
Reports have confirmed that Arians had called it quits from the game in the absence of an alternative choice on refusal of Steelers' management to renew his deal, which was due to run out later this year.
It was disclosed that the decision of his retirement had come from someone other than the coach himself.
The team did not respond to all those reports. They proved to be credible when Bruce Arians announced to have joined the Indianapolis Colts for a similar role, after coming out of his so called retirement.
Now Haley with them as a new offensive staff, the team looks to bolster its offence attack.
The team’s offence is led by their quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger, who is reported to be not happy with the decision of Bruce Arians’ departure from Pittsburgh.
An ankle injury incurred by Roethlisberger, who is known as Big Ben, had made headlines in the later part of the 2011 National Football League (NFL) regular season, pointing out at the some sort of controversy between him and Mike Tomlin on his participation
in Steelers’ game against the San Francisco 49ers into week 15 of the league.
Both parties later calmed down the situation with respective refuting of those speculations.
