Pittsburgh Steelers performance report till Week 7 – NFL Special Part 2
In this part we will now review Steelers performance from Week 4 to Week 7. Week 4 was bye week for Steelers so they got enough time to correct the mistakes they had made in their two defeats.
Week 5: Philadelphia Eagles
Steelers managed to squeeze through a win after a last-second field goal by kicker Shaun Suisham to beat Philadelphia Eagles 16-14.
Suisham scored three field goals as Steelers offence failed to get many points. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger scored the Steelers’ only touchdown of the game. He completed 22 out of 38 passes for 220 yards.
Running back Rashard Mendenhall played his first game of the season and gave good performance. He carried the ball 13 times for 68 yards and also scored a passing touchdown.
Week 6: Tennessee Titans
After getting a win in the final second of the game in previous week, Steelers lost the game in a similar fashion in Week 6.
Tennessee Titans got a 26-23 victory, thanks to a last-second field goal by Rob Bironas to clinch the game. Bironas scored four field goals and played a vital role in his team’s success.
Roethlisberger put Steelers in a good position again, but the rest of the team failed to give a better reply to his throws.
The quarterback ended the game with 24 of 40 for 363 yards and a touchdown. He also broke the franchise record for most passing yards covered.
The defence again failed to live up to expectation as they allowed Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to set up the field goal.
Week 7: Cincinnati Bengals
Running back Chris Rainey’s 11-yard run to the end zone gave Steelers enough points to defend their score in the final quarter and win the game 24-17 against Cincinnati Bengals. Steelers finally got their first win on road this season.
Roethlisberger led the team in big way as he was playing without support of the team’s two star running backs as well as two offensive linemen. He finished with 27 of 37 for 278 yards and a touchdown.
