Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II upbeat about PepsiCo extended deal – NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers’ president Art Rooney II has hoped to gain most out of the new relationship with the non-alcoholic beverage firm PepsiCo that has been extended to complete portfolio of products of the company.
Under the deal, the company has won the exclusive rights to selling, serving and dispensing of its products under the brands of Pepsi, Frito-Lay and Gatorade at the team’s Heinz Field stadium.
Rooney said of the partnership:
"We are excited about our new partnership with PepsiCo - a world-class company with a unique understanding of sports and what football fans want."
He added:
"I'm sure our fans will enjoy the many promotions that we will have through our relationship with PepsiCo, which this year includes a commemorative 80th Season can that will be part of celebrating a significant year in Steelers history. We are thrilled to
start this new partnership and look forward to making it entertaining for our fans to enjoy all of PepsiCo's products."
According to the president, conversion of the stadium work, which will have the entire promotional and marketing stuff ready by the company, will complete by the start of the 2012 season in September.
The official added that the Steelers are heading to their 80th anniversary this year and the company will introduce a customised Pepsi MAX can to mark celebrations of the occasion.
It is the latest deal of the team with a corporation, which more or less is a win-win situation for both of them. While Steelers are due to benefit from the marketing rights, the company too is expected to get boost in its sales through the exclusive rights.
It will prevent other beverage sellers and competitors from selling their products at the team facility.
Heinz Field has become a popular name recently, thanks to its depiction in the new Batman movie. The stadium is shown blown up by terrorists while Steelers former wide receiver Hines Ward made the heroic attempt of scoring a touchdown. Hines speaks high
of his role in the film.
Unfortunately, the film’s release was hit by the tragedy of many deaths at its premier in the US recently when a lonely gunman took to a local theatre in Denver to run havoc with audience's lives.
