Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger confirmed for game against Denver Broncos – NFL
A week of uncertainty on the fitness status of Pittsburgh Steelers’, Ben Roethlisberger, had the team on the edge for the upcoming postseason but according to latest reports, their quarterback (QB) will be playing in their wild-card game against the Denver
Broncos on Sunday, January 08, 2012, which is definitely good news for the team.
Having remained limited in practice on Wednesday and Thursday during the past week, Roethlisberger returned to full workout status on Friday, confirming his availability for the weekend game.
Following his participation in the team’s practice session only a day before their Broncos' game, Steelers elevated his status from being questionable to probable.
The player, however, this time is more optimistic about his chances of joining the Steelers’ squad for their forthcoming tie.
It is for the first time since his injury on December 08, 2011, that the QB has expressed such confidence about his fitness status, boosting his team's hopes for a possible win in their first playoff game this postseason round of the National Football League
(NFL) playoff.
Roethlisberger, also known as ‘Big Ben’, was injured in the Pittsburgh Steelers' game against Cleveland Browns, in week 14 of the NFL regular season, and has not been himself ever since.
He injured his ankle in the game and has been on a rather slow recovery spree for almost a month now.
Roethlisberger played a couple of games for the Steelers and missed one in between.
In all those games, which he played for his side despite his injury, Roethlisberger was seen uncomfortable in his plays.
In the San Francisco 49ers' game, he managed to execute a couple of passes for about 30 yards on average and a minimum number of interceptions of poorly thrown passes from the opposition’s offence.
Big Ben missed his next game against the St. Louis Rams and then finished the regular season on the same injury status in their game against the Cleveland Browns.
He still remains from being declared fit and ready-to-go but has confirmed his participation in the upcoming game.
Such news of his likely presence in their squad may serve well into his team's ambitions for a must win against Denver.
It is a positive and timely development for the Steelers given that the side is facing injury scares on front of a number of more players, including their linebacker, James Harrison, who has been sidelined due to a toe injury.
Furthermore, they are most likely to remain without their starting centre, Maurkice Pouncey, who too is nursing an ankle injury and has not practiced throughout the past week.
The starter has been placed on the Steelers list as questionable but told the ESPN network that he most probably will miss the game. Doug Legursky is expected to be brought in as his backup for the upcoming contest.
