Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger not happy over working with Todd Haley-NFL News
Pittsburgh Steelers’ quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger admitted facing difficulties in adapting to the rule book of new offensive coordinator, Todd Haley, which, the player said, is more than 90 percent different from the approach of his previous coach, Bruce
Arians.
Haley has been brought in by Steelers to take over the role of Arians, who was released by the team in a controversial manner.
The management had announced that Arians called it quits from the professional league, but the so-called retirement was seen to be an outcome of the team’s plans to replace him with a new assistant coach.
Steelers’ president, Art Rooney II was pointed out to be the person behind the reshuffle, but he denied the accusation consistently.
According to him, all decisions were a result of a collective process, involving head coach, Mike Tomlin, and others.
Irrespective of the controversy, the doubts around the decision of his quitting the league proved to be true when he came out of the retirement to take a similar role with Indianapolis Colts.
Steelers, in the meantime, had brought in Haley.
Even Haley's hiring generated some controversy and all the responsibility of the move was left down to the coach.
In particular, quarterback, Big Ben, who had a good working relationship with Arians, was said not to be happy over Haley’s arrival.
Still, the player expressed satisfaction over the opportunity of working with him in future.
As now the team has started its offseason voluntary workout activities, the quarterback has expressed disappointment over the way things moved forward between him and Haley so far.
Ben, who recently graduated, has exposed the lighter side of his workout with Haley, saying:
"I joke and say that my final paper for Miami on Tibet was a lot easier than the Rosetta Stone we're doing now here."
He went on to be rather serious, adding:
"Right now, we're practicing the pass because it's more complicated.”
Ben further highlighted:
"Everything. The similarities would be on a shorter list. Off the top of my head, from what I've seen so far, there's a 90 percent change. We're all asking each other what's going on. Coach Haley is not only coaching the players he's coaching the coaches."
Hence, the situation reflects that it is in no way a good start as far as Roethlisberger’s relationship with Haley is concerned. The team can only hope for things to improve gradually.
