Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Big Ben limited in practice but hopeful of playing weekend game – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers have listed their star quarterback Ben Roethlisberger as a limited participant after his workout at the Wednesday practice session.
Roethlisberger who is also known as Big Ben joined his squad for the mid-week practice but was seen limping and limited in his mobility.
The player however said he was better than last week and assured the team management that his ankle injury is unlikely to affect his chances for playing their wild-card game on the weekend.
"I had a little setback early in the third quarter (at Cleveland last Sunday)," Roethlisberger said Wednesday. "We're working really hard with the trainers and doctors to get back to even where we were before the Cleveland game. I felt pretty good going
in and moved a little bit at the beginning of that game. It's a little setback but we'll get moving."
His restricted movement due to the injury remains a problem for Big Ben. He was unsuccessful in follow through of his throws with finishing almost 59 per cent of his passes.
The player had been on track of recovery well before facing a setback on last Sunday, which pushed back the timeline for his comeback from the injury.
"I don't know if I caught it on the ground wrong or got hit. we'll see," he said. "We'll be all right."
He said that he was working hard with the trainers to be ready and fit for the Saturday’s game and was hopeful to making it to the side.
Inspite of his apparent optimism and assurance the team management left him as a limited participant. It will now depend on how well he goes in the remaining practice sessions before the game.
The Steelers are playing their wild-card tie against the Broncos in Denver this weekend and unavailability of Ben due to his injury could badly affect their chances for a must win.
It will be another setback for the team who ruled out safety Ryan Clark due to an illness a day earlier and it may not serve well into their hopes of getting through the postseason successfully.
The team has made it to playoff this season through a wild card opportunity despite that they were tied at the score of 12-4 with their division archrivals the Baltimore Ravens.
Having lost twice earlier in the season the Steelers were left for a tie breaker and the advantage was took by the Ravens courtesy of their wins over them in the regular season.
