Pittsburgh Steelers rookie OT Mike Adams, guard David DeCastro aim making up for lost time– NFL News
Mike Adams, Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie offensive tackle, who has missed organised team activities (OTAs) due to odd quarter system of Ohio State is little worried about the missed workout.
He is hopeful of catching up on the left opportunity while claiming to have picked up many things from the playbook, which the team had provided him and other players for the time they were away from the team’s facilities.
The OT says he has already made up for some lost time during the three-day mandatory minicamp while hopes to cover the rest in the coming days.
Steelers are starting their training camp later this month and this should provide the player with an opportunity to make most of it to bridge the gap left in his learning and training.
He said:
"I went to rookie minicamp and the last minicamp, so I have a good feel for things. My coaches did a great job keeping us up with everything. I had playbook the whole time, I had the film. I feel like I stayed up with things as best I
could."
Mike had the opportunity to work with the team’s first offence during the mandatory minicamp and the player has a great optimism about winning the starting role straightaway.
He added:
“To start right away is definitely a goal, but I'm trying to just learn and be ready to contribute, help this team any way I can. We have one goal in Pittsburgh and that's to win a Super Bowl, so it's my job to just do whatever I have
to do to help that."
Irrespective of the question how he is going to perform in his rookie appearance, Adams sounds to be very ambitious, from his talk at least. The management is equally hopeful about his chances of pro success.
Meanwhile, his colleague, guard, David DeCastro, is in a similar situation as far as his training is concerned.
David – the first-round pick out of this year’s draft, was out of the OTAs due to the same reason as Stanford, just like Ohio, has a quarter system making it difficult for him to attend the offseason activities.
He too hopes for making up for the lost time.
