Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu out against Kansas City Chiefs – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers have ruled out safety Troy Polamalu for the Kansas City Chiefs game on Monday and there is no guarantee if the player will be able to play in the game after Chiefs’.
He suffered a calf injury in the season opener but was available for another game in between. He suffered the same injury once again and since then is out of the side.
None of the team officials have provided any timeline of the player’s recovery but it appears he is a going to spend some time out of the field.
It has not affected the Steelers as such because his replacement Will Allen is doing a superb job. He has again boasted his success, raring to go against the Chiefs.
Allen said:
"I'm just doing my job. I just want to be on my Ps and Qs and I want to be effective and have urgency. When I'm reading my keys and I'm helping this team, that's the main thing that I care about."
Although the player realises he cannot replace Troy at all, the job given to him so far is well done by him. This is the reason that the team do not want to rush the main player back as a precautionary measure. They have already aggravated his injury once
and do not want to take the same risk again.
After making a sluggish start to this season, the team has picked momentum of their wins, and are just a game behind the American Football Conference (AFC) leader Baltimore Ravens.
Polamalu’s return will certainly boost their secondary position and add to the defence’s strength but with Allen the managers are confident they can handle the situation as effectively as they do with presence of the main player.
Next game, in fact every game is crucial for the Steelers to keep them on the course to playoffs.
