Pittsburgh Steelers sign LB Ryan Baker to replace injured Brandon Lindsey – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers have brought in replacement for the injured linebacker, Brandon Lindsey, who has been waived by the team as he requires a surgery to repair a broken shoulder.
Former Louisiana State University’s LB, Ryan Baker, is the new signee of the team. Terms of his contract are not disclosed by either of the stakeholders. This includes the value and tenure of the deal.
It is not clear if Steelers have offered any sort of guarantee of taking Brandon back after he recovers from the planned surgery and clears the waivers.
The management has not even disclosed the reason behind his release but a section of media has quoted his tweets confirming he has suffered a shoulder injury, which requires an operation and is set to consume some time on recovery and
rehab.
It appears the player will need a substantial amount of time to his rehab from the procedure as Steelers have gone straight for his cut instead of putting him on the injured reserved list.
Steelers picked Lindsey as an undrafted free agent from the market after he spent a year with the Carolina Panthers.
The team is due to hit training camp next month with as many as 89 players on the roster. They are yet to bring in replacement of Troy Smith. Former Heisman Trophy winner was released by the team last week.
They have to cut down the roster strength to 53 players before going to the regular season. Under the league rules, each team can have 53 players maximum under contract at the start of the regular season. Before that the roster strength
can be up to 90 players.
It now looks certain that the team will be heading to the camp with the existing number of players as unless there are any injury scares all players appear set to be part of the squad.
Lately, Steelers have relatively been calm as far as hiring firing is concerned. They have shaken almost the entire squad, releasing a number of veterans to consolidate the players’ salary expense, which had surged above the cap level.
They have also redone terms of deals with a number of players as part of the drive.
