Pittsburgh Steelers yet mum on LB James Harrison, safety Troy Polamalu’s next game status – NFL News
The Pittsburgh Steelers are yet mum over chances of return of linebacker James Harrison and safety Troy Polamalu for the next weekend’s game as the team continues to suffer on the defensive line in their absence as witnessed in the last game versus Oakland
Raiders.
Both players are out recovering from a knee surgery and calf injury respectively and while Troy has missed the last two games James is yet to play one this season.
They had returned to limited practice last Wednesday giving birth to speculations of their comeback for the past weekend game but their absence from Friday practice confirmed earlier doubts about the impossibility.
It was and is rather surprising to see James missing all three games of the season when as a matter of fact he had boasted his return at the start of the season.
Irrespective of the fact that the player himself has spoken high of his recovery status all along, the team is not satisfied about his fitness level yet and has therefore left him out of the squad for all the games so far.
The cost of leaving James out is probably higher because the team has badly missed his daring tackles and challenges to oppositions’ offensive line, but the player stands at risk of aggravating his injury on his premature return.
So far the team has not updated his and Polamalu’s status for this Sunday’s game which can be expected by Friday and to an extent determined on Wednesday if the players participate in the team practice.
James had a knee surgery in the offseason and although the team has remained upbeat about the pace of recovery, his comeback is very much awaited yet.
Polamalu suffered the calf injury in the first game of the season and is unable to rejoin the team for a game since then.
Coach Mike Tomlin has recently showed disappointment over the team’s defensive line effort, particularly in the Raiders' game that at the end cost them the win. He can hope both star defensive players are back from the next game.
