I was a Manager with this company for 3 1/2 years and although the job appears fantastic (which it could be) its not !

You are required to work upto 2 hours away from home, each way, (all travel is in your own time and unpaid !) so to do a 9 hour day (1 hour off for lunch) you will leave your home at 7am arrive at 9am leave work at 5pm and get home at 7pm.

This is not a rareity, this happens all the time, AND I HAVE BEEN GENEROUS WITH HOURS, your actual contracted hours are 8.30am - 5.30pm !!!!!! You do the math !!!!

This is FAR LESS THAN MIMIMUM WAGE !!!!

  1. New answer (lol):

My Mum was in a job that she didn't particularly mind, but they told her at interview that it was flexible hours.

When she started, they told her that although she was getting in at half eight (so could finish at five I think?) that she HAD to be there after this time to finish an 'important report' - so she began the job with false information. If she'd have known this, she'd never have accepted the offer!

Then when she brought it up with management, they told her some rubbish about it being fine, and that she had to do it, and that they would change the contract but in the meantime she had to do the hours anyway.

When she said her brother had said that it was against the law to force someone to work extra time (for no pay, might I add!) they practically laughed in her face. Until she told them that he was a barrister.

Haha... she took a weeks holiday and handed her notice in during the same week (she had no more pay due so never bothered working her notice) - so they were 'up the creek without a paddle' so to speak... =)

    Some businesses suck.

This was Tetley's, by the way. The teabag people.

I hope you find / have found a nice job now =)
