  1. A lot of schools will offer an intro to massage class. It's usually a two day class on the basics of massage therapy. I'd suggest taking that.

You don't need 20 or more massages before deciding to do this profession. That's a little ridiculous. You should have at least one though.

Massage therapy isn't for everyone. You have to be focused and you have to realize it's a risky profession in the beginning. If you're working on commission only, you have to be careful to budget and plan since you will have slow times as well as busy times.

I love doing massage, but I prefer more of a therapeutic setting over a spa setting. The money is better and the clients benefit more from the massage.

    Try looking on www.massagetherapy.com!

  2. Don't go to massage school unless you have had about 20 massages or more from various massage therapists to see if you really like massage and want to go into it as a profession.

Entry level jobs pay $13-$15 an hour.  Most massage therapists start their own businesses.  The average age of massage therapists is 45 so massage schools are really geared toward teaching adults.

You should be talking to the people at the school, the teachers, the students and the graduates to find out more about massage and if you want to go to that school or not.
