  1. 2 months ago i went to the med.

on RC voyager of the seas.

it started from barcelona, the next day: monoco france, Day 2: florence Italy, Day 3: Rome, Day 4: Naples, Day 5: Sicily Day 6: Sea, Day 7: back at barcelona.

It was a good cruise, it was alittle demanding, getting up very early to make the trips on land.  This was our first med cruise so we didnt know what to expect, so we booked tours at every port,  every day got up at 5 am, and didnt get back to the ship until 5-6 pm, then it repeats.  We were use to caribbean sytle where there is a break from island to island with sea days,  but it was a great trip.

  2. A lot of cruise ships go from Southampton, which means you would normally have a couple of days at sea before you get to your destination.  We did this this year, and found it a little bit boring, because the weather wasn't warm enough to sit on deck.  We've flown to Palma three times to pick up the ship, and in a way, this was better.  There are loads of destinations you can fly to, to pick up various ships.  www.cruisefinders.co.uk is a reasonably priced company, so try them, but what we usually do is get a quote from them, then ring a local travel agent and get a price from them, compare them, and then go to our usual travel agent and tell them what price we have alreadly been quoted, and we usually have a good deal from them because they want our custom.  We normally choose 14 day cruises, either from Palma or Southampton.  Excursions arranged by the company are usually quite expensive, especially if you have children in your party.  14 and 15 year olds are charged as adults.!  It is very easy in some ports to catch a train to a destination, e.g. Monte Carlo, or  Nice from Villafranche which is an awful lot cheaper than going on an arranged excursion.  No visa requirements for Europe.

  3. Several cruise lines do cruises of the Mediterranean and the cruises can last form 7 to 14 days.  Cruises start from ports in Barcelona, Spain; Dover, England; Venice, Italy; or Florence Italy.  Some cruises are round trip, which means that you cruise back to the port that you started from.  Others, usually the 7 day ones, are one way.  So you may start in Venice and end up in Florence, or vice cersa.  The port stops for the Eastern Caribbean are usually Nice, France; Florence, Italy; Rome, Italy; Naples, Italy; Athens, Greece; Santorini, Greece, Mykonos, Greece, Ephesus, Turkey; and Crotia.

The port stops for the Western Caribbean are generally Barcelona, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal, Gibraler, the Canary Islands, Morocco and Los Palmas, Spain.  Norwegian cruise line does this itinerary.

Prices can run from about $1200 per person for an inside cabin to $3000 for a suite. Generally the ship will stay in port all day, from about 8:00 am to about 6:00PM, depending upon how many stops and the distance between them.

When we went to the Eastern Med out of Barcelona we did not need a visa.  We completed a tourist card for Barcelona because we stayed over night there, but nothing was needed in advance for the other ports we stopped at.

You should o to the web sites for the cruise lines and select the Mediterranean as a destination and it will give you all of the cruises for all of the departure places, prices, and cabin selections.  You can actually reserve right on line if you want.  I do it all of the time.  Check the web sites listed below.
