If my car is impounded because the driver that drove it didnt have a licence can i still get my car out? i have a valid drivers license, insurance and registration? AND LIVE IN CALIFORNIA

  1. Call the impound center and tell them that you want to get your back.  They will charge you a fine and storage fees.  I don't think that they will keep your car for 30 days unless the police are pursuing you for negligent entrustment of a motor vehicle.


  2. They impounded the car because they didn't want THAT driver (unlicensed driver) to drive it off after the cop turned the corner.

    Yes you can get it out, but there will probably be a fine.

    Call the authority that impounded the car.  They will tell you exactly what you have to do (bring) to get the car out of impound.  Do it fast, because they often charge storage charge.  So if they charged $20 per day (on top of impounding charge), after a week that's extra $140.

  3. Since you are the registered owner, you should contact the precint who had the car impounded and ask how to go about getting your car back.
