We are going on a cruise in May and I would like to know were we can stay the night before and leave our car there while we are gone? Does anyone have any suggestions. And how much does it cost? Oh we are leaving from Port Canaveral. :)

  1. Try cruiseaddicts.com or cruiseaacritics.com and go the the hotel forum. You'll get a lot of good advice. Don't go through the cruiseline you don't know what you'll get.

  2. I cruise a lot and we use Trip Advisor to look at potential hotels and see the reveiws of people who actually stayed there. It's free and they have maps, prices, and reservation systems.

Here's a link to the site for Port Canaveral:

  3. I have cruised out of Florida many times and always drive to the port.  What I do is just seek out a good name brand hotel within about two hours drive of the port city.  There is no need to stay right at the port.  You cannot board the ship until at least noon or later.  So use Expedia.com, or Travelocity.com, or a name brand hotel site like Hampton Inn (they always have good free breakfasts) or Holiday Inn, or Marriott/Fairfield and check for availability just before your departure date.  I also suggest staying in a hotel/motel away from tourist/resort  areas as they will be cheaper.  For example, Orlando is about 2 hours from Cape Canaveral, but prices will be higher there than if you stay somewhere along I-95.  And you will not get caught in the city traffic.  Or, check out this web site:

You can park at the port.  This is from their web site.  Parking at Port Canaveral's Cruise Terminals is paved, gated, and under 24-hour surveillance. Parking fee is $8.00 per day for vehicles up to 20 feet in length and $16.00 per day for vehicles over 20 feet. The total amount for the time the vehicle is to be parked must be paid in full upon entering the parking area. Visa, MasterCard, Traveler's Checks issued in U.S. dollars and Cash are accepted in payment of fees.

I have always used the port parking and had absolutely no problems.

  4. Check with your cruise line they offer pre and post hotels for your stay and aren't expensive.

    =)

  5. Go to Port of Canaveral's website, there is a link for hotels  and some offer park and stay packages. You might find all of them already booked but there is also parking at the port itself. If you are renting a car some offer a drop off/transport to the ships
