Place to stay in Paris?

Question

I am going to Paris September 5th-16th and needless to say I don't have a lot of money while I am there. I am looking for a nice clean good place to stay that may be close to things? Any and all suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I never seen a nice cheap place in Paris. You can stay in a hostel, but the nice cheap one is in the worst area called Montreuil. It's the ghetto side with all the trouble. So don't go anywhere there like I did. Just look up Paris hotels online and look for a small one, they are pretty cheap. Sorry I couldn't give you much information.

The classic cheap hotel in Paris is the Hôtel Tiquetonne at 6 rue Tiquetonne in the 2nd arrondissment by Les Halles (Metro: Etienne Marcel). They have no interent presence so you need to phone or fax for a reservation. Phone: [phone] Fax: [phone] A single with a shared bath costs 30€ a night.

There are also many hostels tht are cheaper although they tend to be somewhat less centrally located. The Auberge International des Jeunes ( http://www.aijparis.com/ ) at 10 rue Trousseau in the 11th costs 16€ a night and includes breakfast.

Not that cheap, but you can make real savings making your own meals!

It's very nice studio for 2, (small "nest lovers" type), in the 6th (Latin Quarter) and quiet.

I think it's a clean good place, and close to everything!

On the website, there are also a lot of tools to prepare your trip: lot of pictures, ideas for walks in the neighborhood and many links to monuments, museums, train stations, airports and so on.

I stayed at the Relais de Paris Cambronne last year and it was pretty inexpensive.  It also gave a free breakfast which was a much more substantial one than you normally get in France. It's about a 10 minute walk from the Eiffel tower.

I stayed in the Aloha Hostel in Volontaires for 5 days and it was absolutely fine. I had the cheapest option - a 6 dorm room (so 4 strangers, cos I was with a friend). The shower was fine (for a hostel), the free breakfast was good (but with weird-tasting coffee), and the location was very easy. Very close to a metro, and lots of cafes and alimentations and a cheap supermarche. Alternatively, we often went to the Rue Mouffetard which had stupendously cheap happy hour bars and cocktails and was an awesome place, and there was a hostel there called Young and Happy. Haven't been inside, but it looked fairly decent (for a hostel) and was in an excellent location. I also have friends who stayed in the Three Ducks and said that was perfectly fine.

A hostel is definitely your best bet - they often have free breakfast, internet access available, and English-speaking staff. So: the Aloha, Young and Happy, or the Three Ducks. Have a look at their websites!
