I have a 24x60 single floor ranch style home and I want to beef up the main support beam because it is sagging.

How many feet apart should I place the support columns?

Thanks.

  1. One support column could be enough.

Consult with an engineer or architect.

    Obtain a building permit.

  2. It depends on the load it is carrying.  There are charts to determine spacing requirements for support beams.

  3. This is difficult to answer without knowing the dimensions of the main beam.   I suggest you have an architect or engineer have a look.
