  1. I would highly recommend Venice. Milano is good for the shopping but its a very crazy city, not so clean if you ask me... If you go to Napoli be very careful where you go and what you bring. Do not go alone.

Toscany is a region and def. very beatiful!

I would also recommend going to Genova, great fish, great places to see and great people.

  2. Piedmont, Sardinia, Marche, Veneto, Aosta - there are so many that are unknown and soooo wonderful

  3. In the summer and autumn, visit Sardegna (Sardinia).  The people are friendly and hospitable, the countryside and nature is stunning, the beaches and the sea is unforgettable.

I have been to the Naples area, the Amalfi coast, it is also well worth visiting.

Unfortunately, I have not visited Venice or Tuscany yet...but I will someday soon.

  4. SARDINIA!!! ;)

  5. Trieste, why not? Liguria too. Venice a must in October.

  6. no never been

  7. Places near Naples like Pompei, Paestum are very important for their history!

  8. go to torino or sestriere or claviere. go up north. very beautiful and snowy in winter.

  9. Lucca in Tuscany was my very favorite city -- I darn near moved there.  It's gorgeous, unique, the people are friendly and welcoming, and there are so many interesting things to see.  A great place to just wander for a day or two.  They also do an annual music festival that brings in some really big names.

Capri was fun for a day, and a drive up the Amalfi Coast with a stop in Positano makes it a full weekend.

  10. Depends on the season. For the summer Puglia is beautiful almost everywhere and mostly at the small villages, like Santa Maria di Leuca, where the Ionian sea meats Adriatic. The zone is called Salento and it's beautiful. This place has a great culture roman and greek, simple people and very good food. It's very green, with a wonderful sea.

  11. yes puglia try some cities like Brindisi, Lecce, Otranto

  12. Venice, Milan and Naples are all different and certainly worthy of your time. I don't think you can wrong with any of them. Or even revisiting Florence. But since you've been to some large cities, I would recommend trying a few smaller cities and towns. Tuscany is incredible. Siena (the first city in the world to ban automobile traffic), is great. Its small enough to enjoy completely, but still large enough to have many things to do and see.

There are plenty of stores should you need to shop, but not so many peddlers as the bigger cities.

Other smaller cities within a reasonable distance are Orvieto, Montalpuciano and Montalcino. They each have their own distinct history. Civita

is definitely a unbelievable half day, but requires some walking.

All the people in Tuscany are pleasant and easy to communicate with. Most speak English and quite a few speak several other languages. But more importantly, they are willing to take whatever time is necessary just to be nice.

I would recommend trying to stay at a Bed and Breakfast type place or one of the many agriturismo (farm holiday)places if that's possible.

Another unique area is Cinque Terre. Five small villages on the coast North of Pisa. They are isolated and different than the the rest of Italy. Its a challanging drive. But you can get there by train from La Spezia. La Spezia is on rail from Genova, Pisa or Parma and thus all of Italy. A train also runs between the villages making it easy to get to all of them. I don't think you can see them all very completely in a day. So either spend the night or just do a couple of them.

If you are in the area, Lucca is interesting , though I found it a little less friendly.

Everyone feels they must see Pisa if they are close. This may be true, but I've never met anyone that felt any need to go back. If you have to miss something. I'd miss Pisa.

  13. sorrento is stunning
