  1. hello,

it is free to get into the basilica, go early to avoid the queues, for an extra 6euros you can visit other parts of the brasilica and see the treasure etc,

its free to walk around san marco square. in the evening you can wonder through and list to the music and soak up the atmosphere.  drink etc are expensive in the square, but just out of the square its very reasonable.

you can buy a museum pass, not sure of the price.

venice is not as expensive as you may think, check out tripadvisor.com   lots of usuful info on there

    good luck and enjoy

  2. No it doesn't cost you money, it costs your life...of course it costs MONEY, Venice is surrunded by water, but they still know what money is!!! :)

I have no idea of how much does it cost you to get into museums in Venice, but I can tell you that they issue a Card for entries in all Venice Museums and you can visit all you want by possesing this card. You can buy it at

http://www.venicecard.it/aq_pre.jsp by credit card and find it at the airport when you arrive.

And you better take something to drink and some sandwiches with you from somewhere not in Venice, if you worry about costs there. They are kind of expensive!
