Question:

Places to Propose in Pittsburgh?

Ok - so I'm born and raised in Boston, my girlfriend is from Pennsylvania and we are visiting her family in Pittsburgh soon and I want to propose there. I've only been to Pittsburgh a couple times so I don't really know of any "special" places that would be good for a proposal. Any ideas?

  1. What about by the Pointe? It's the huge fountain where the 3 rivers meet. That might be a good place. I live in Pittsburgh and the Pointe is a pretty nice place. I hope that this helps. Good luck with your proposal!

  2. At the overlook by the top of the Duquesne Incline.  That way she'll feel like she's on top of the world.

  3. I think both the answers so far are great. Point State Park is lovely. I wish I knew when there was going to be a fireworks night because that would be even more special. Check the Pittsburgh Pirates schedule, they often have fireworks after a game, and the baseball field is right across the river from the park. We Pittsburghers love our fireworks.

The only problem with Point State Park right now is that it is under construction. Some of it is open, but you may want to scout it out before deciding on that as your proposal spot.

Also the overlooks on Mt. Washington are great...any one of them, it doesn't have to be the one by the Duquesne Incline. If you want to make it a really special occasion, make a reservation at one of the restaraunts up there (Tin Angel, Georgetowne Inn, LaMont).

If you come during the Christmas season (usually starting the week before Thanksgiving here), you could propose in front of the ice rink in PPG Place. Or you could go up to Hartwood Acres or down to Oglebay to propose under the lights.

Really you could propose anywhere if you know your girlfriend's favorite things. Does she like animals? Take her to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium to propose. I think the aquarium is a pretty nice place to be proposed to with all the fish surrounding you.

Is she into pretty flowers? Go to Phipps Conservatory to propose.

I like paleontology. I think I would've been happy to have been proposed to in front of the T-Rex in Dinosaur Hall in the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

    You get the idea.

    Good luck!
