Hey everyone!

I am planning a trip around Europe and would like to know what are the places that I shouldn't miss about Italy (museums, castles, historic places, natural beauties, etc- anything you can come up to!).

As an extra in case anyone happens to know, a cheap way to travel around Europe (ie. train, plane) I would love to know along with the price ranges.

Thank you!!

  1. Venice of course.  My favourite place.  Accommodation usually expensive so you may need to just go for the day, although I think I might have seen a youth hostel or something there once.

Just go and get lost there - wander aimlessly and perhaps go up the bell tower in St Marks Square (San Marco) to get breathtaking views (this doesn't take up too much time!).

Important not to worry about getting lost - it is always easy to get back to St Marks Square and the water taxis etc are just round the corner from it.

Food and drink can be expensive but if you wander you will find somewhere much cheaper!

I was once told on my first visit there that the people are quite rude and can be abrupt and even agressive - I have never experienced this!

  2. Italy is fabulous and there isn't anywhere that isn't worth not seeing. steeped in history. food and people are amazing.

you should go to the famous places like Rome and Florence.....so many beautiful places to see and things to do.

along the amalfi coast is very beautiful seas and beaches are lovely.

tell me how long you have and I'll help you more.

  3. hi!!!

i m Italian girl :) come to Genoa!!!

    ;) ;)

beautiful and it s dead intersting!!! ;););) i live here!!!!!

    good night :)

  4. Go to Rome, visit the Vatican you will never see anything like it.  The museum and the corridors are fantastic. I think if one man was to paint the works there he would have to live for 1,000,000 years and I doubt if he would finish.

  5. North-Centre: Le cinque terre (liguria), Tuscany (florence, siena, pisa, lucca, and everywhere you want it's the best place in the world), Lombardy (Milano-not for monuments it's really grey! , Cremona,, Mantova) Veneto (Padova, Venezia, Verona), Friuli (Trieste), Bologna(Emilia)

South: Umbria (Assisi Perugia) than Roma, Napoli, Caserta Bari, Siracusa, Palermo, South of Sicily....

You MUST visit the vatican museums. For this tour you need 2 MONTHS!

For the girl who wrote up up, the place it's San Gimignano, full of towers, sometime one crashes ...it's true :-)

  6. do you like mountains?

in Itly there is the national park of the dolomites! very beautiful mountains

  7. All of these answers are great. I also suggest some of the lesser known hill top towns, like San Gimeano( i dont think i spelled that correctly) these towns have neat little shops as well as a history of their own.

Another great place is the Isle of Capri. You have to take a boat to get there...but the views from the lsle are great, there are really cool shops, and they make a chocolate using Lemincello!

A train or bus will be your cheapest option as far as getting around italy. Plan atleast 2 weeks to get a good idea of what italy is all about...longer is better but less than 2 weeks is just not enough.

  8. i live in italy..i am italian actually!

well, in Italy there are  really plenty of places to visit.

Starting from the big cities, you should not miss Roma, Florence,Venice, Bologna...i would not go to milan if i were you.

Then you should got  to tuscanian country.

You should also try to go to Sicily: Palermo, Agrigento (with ist wonderful Temples Valley), Segesta and the sicilian islands: Pantelleria..for example it is very famous....and these are only some among the other beautiful sicilian places.

Well, to plan such a trip you need something like 3 weeks.

If you have only 2 weeks, i would go to the cities I have mentioned aboce and to Tuscany or to Sicily.

  9. if you been in Milan, i suggest you to take the train from the Cadorna station an get to Saronno, it's about 20km and it's cost is 4.10€ went & return, so in this little center you will see all that you couldn't see in big city, like the country, the fabric of the "DiSaronno Originale" and an old city of about 40000 people, so from Saronno you could take another train to Como it's costs like Milano-Saronno and if you want you can do the ticket from milan, because it's on the same track, so if you been in Como you rest breathtakin about the wonderfull lake and if you want you can do a trip by boat round the lake so you can see the George Clooney Maison.... have a nice trip... Saluti dal BEL PAESE.... ciao!

All the train from Milan to Como/Varese/Novara and Malpensa stops in Saronno....
