Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew any good places to eat for someone that is on there own and near to the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel or any websites that could give me some ideas. Im not too fussed about where I eat although something like the next level up from fast food places would be good.

Thank you in advance for any answers given to this question.

  1. Near you on N st just East of Connecticut is the Tabard Inn.  Fabulous place

    http://www.tabardinn.com/

Just North of you on the East Connectcut is Luna's Grill.  Great place for breakfast.  A little loud but great food.  On M st there is Daily Grill which is also good.  Nothing WOW but it will not let you down.

  2. Check out Yelp; it's great b/c you can narrow the search radius using google maps so you can restrict the reviews to restaurants within a couple blocks of your hotel.

  3. If you walk down Connecticut to K and then turn right on K, between 18th and 19th is a lovely vegetarian Indian place called Nirvana.

You can catch the Circulator (www.dccirculator.com) on K Street.  It runs between Union Station and Georgetown and is only $1.  Get a transfer when you hop on the bus and you can ride free for two hours.  There are numerous restaurants in Georgetown.  There are also several restaurants in the Gallery Place-Chinatown area.

Outside your hotel should be a stop for the number 42 Metrobus, which is $1.35 fare (get a transfer), and will take you through the Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan neighborhoods.  Adams Morgan has tons of restaurants along 18th Street (the 42 stops at Columbia and 18th), but many are bar style food.  There is a great falafel place called Amsterdam Falafelshop, and they just serve falafel and fries.

    Enjoy your stay

  4. On the more expensive side, Morton's and Sam & Harry's are always reliable restaurants with good steaks and seafood. One of my favorite DC restaurants, Vidalia, is a few walking blocks from the Mayflower.

If you want something less expensive than McCormick & Schmick's is also nearby.

  5. Mortons. Sam and Harry's are good. Good Luck.
