Question:

Places to go in southern Vermont

I am planning on taking my family on a day (or couple day) trip somewhere in southern Vermont. We live in Brattleboro Vermont so anywhere within an hours radius is good for us. Also, due to bad weather predictions, I would prefer indoor activities. so please, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

(Also, I'd rather suggestions that aren't generic, such as attend a movie or something.)

Thanks

  1. I have been to Wilmington, VT and if your family likes shopping, and

flea markets, this is the place to go.  I think they have a lot of antique

shops and book stores there.  Also the overlook at Hogback mountain

on the Molly Stark trail is great.  I stopped there one time early in the

morning after dropping my husband off for work in Brattleboro and I found this beautiful place.  It has a big building, (I guess where you

can buy souvenirs and food) but it has one of the most breathtaking

overlooks I've seen up here. It was autumn and all the trees looked like

they were on fire.  I'm not sure how far you can see, but it looks like

you could see into New Hampshire!  As far as indoor activities, I'm

not sure but Stamford VT, is really beautiful, too.  The Hogback Mountain site would definately be within an hours ride from Brattleboro,

    possibly about 30 minutes.

       Hope this helps!

Addendum:  Also Hogback Mountain has a wildlife museum that you

    might enjoy.
