Places to go indoors w/ kids?

Question

im looking for some fun indoor family trips. something inexpensive as well. ive already looked into museum and aquarium but its over $100. just to get us all in the door!

ive already looked into outdoor activities but (of course) its going to be thunderstorms on the day we planned to go. and hubby gets limited time off so id rather not reschedule.

any suggestions would be great.

Start looking into community activities, they would be listed in the paper or even online, at the commerce website.  These include public afternoon concerts, children's museum type things, nature talks, etc, etc - You never know what you are going to find!  

I love the aquariums, but i know, they are *so* expensive.  There are always things going on right under your nose, though,...

indoor mini golf if you have one near you, bowling, and I hate to say it chuck E cheese (I hate that place), do you have any other place with an arcade and family fun center type of place?

Not knowing the ages of your kids or the location of your destination, it is hard to say.  Some things that are usually free, and interesting to older kids, can include visiting capital buildings, factory tours, going to an interesting restaurant that you don't have at home, even a mall.  And, of course, you may want to invest in ponchos for the family and do one or two of the outdoor things you had planned.
