Hi, I am a student at UCLA and finding a place to live in L.A.

I have Westwood, Beverly hills, Culver city, Santa monica in my mind, but it's not easy for me to choose one based on no knowledge.

I need someone who can comment on each place in detail. Currently, I can afford up to 1500$ per month for rent.

Thank you in advance.

  1. Westwood location is the closest for UCLA students but rent is not cheap.. So is Santa Monica.. Forget about Beverly Hills..

So for $1500 per month, you probably can get a nice apartment in Culver city, which is not bad.. short drive to UCLA... you might be able to get a 2 bd/1 ba. for that price.

But Santa Monica would be my first choice if the rent is about the same.. The beach, the ocean breeze, the pier, the aquarium, the farmers market, the cafes, the restaurants.. great place to live...

  2. West Los Angeles may cost a little less.

Culver City is  a good idea.   The further you are willing to drive the less it will cost you.  You can also try going toward downtown, like Korea Town near Wilshire.

  3. Your best source for housing in West L.A., Santa Monica, Culver City, etc. is either through Craigslist.com or pay $65.00 to look at the apartment listings at westsiderentals.com.

    Good luck!
