Places to stay in Barcelona? What is the main area there?

First of all, check the websites  www.hostelz.com  or  www.hostelworld.com for a place to stay. They offer Hostels, Pensiones and Hotels.

Main area is around La Rambla and Placa Catalunia. That's where most happens day and night. And that's where most beds are offered.

If you go through Hostelz.com, they link you with the websites of the places which give you a lot of info aswell.

Plz Catalunia is the center of it all!

I stayed at Hostal Girona, 3 blocks from Plz Catalunia and paid 35 euros a night for a single room with the toilet in the hall way. It was super clean!

Barcelona can get expensive quickly if you dont watch out, but it is so worth it. I love that city.

Most visitors stay in or near the Ramblas or in the Gothic Quarter just to the east. This is a good base from where you can explore the city's sights by day including Gaudi's masterpiece, the unfinished Sagrada Família Cathedral, and Parc Güell in the north.

if you want to be in the thick of things go for the barri gotico which is where the Ramblas are. It's a vibrant area and probably the most prettiest aswell as the oldest. It does get rowdy at night time though. I found Raval and Barcelonata great alternatives and both are very authentic areas. Raval is super central so you get the best of the city without having to avoid the pub crowd.
