I am taking the Eurostar from London and want a place to stay close to the train station and not to far from tourist attractions.

  1. Paris is a far more compact city than London so everything in the central part of the city is close to all the tourist attractions.

There's no particular reason to stay close to the Gare du Nord train station which is in the 10th arrondissement. There's nothing really wrong with the neighborhood but you'll find moving a little bit closer to the absolute center to be more convenenient. But if you insist on staying by the train station then simply use any hotel search engine and look for hotles in the 10th arr.

  2. The Port Royal Hôtel at the southern end of the 5th offers guests a two-page write-up of the neighborhood, including interesting sights to see, where to eat, which buses will take you where, and local history (believe me, most budget hotel staff wouldn’t know any of this) and it is only fifty feet from a metro. No TVs, no A/C, and no credit cards accepted, but what do you expect for 78 euros?

  3. i stayed in the latin quarter, which was right by the metro and just a short cab ride (or metro ride) across the river to the train stations (gare du nord and bercy).

  4. Go to www.hostelworld.com. Great site to find a great place.

  5. If you want a hotel close to the train station (Gare Du Nord), I'll suggest you Abricotel hotel. It's a small one, cheap enough and close to two metro stations.

  6. You don't want to stay to far into deep paris or your room rate will be substantial but when you get a room ask for one with a douche. (A shower)
